I bouhht a boat, Bayliner 1993 175 with a v6 mercruiser motor. However, the motor appeared to be in non working order, I'll still have to determine the amount of damage, but when I took the carb of, it was seized with significant water damage. So my guess, the engine is dead as well. I found 3.8l OMC v6 stringer motor 1982 in working order and pretty cheap. The question I have is how feasible is it to put an omc motor instead of a mercruiser and how many additional modifications do I need to do, wiring, can I use the alpha one original outdrive, etc.
Thx

Nope,... It won't work,....
What if I use the OMC original outdrive? would it be possible to put a stringer drive, or the transom mounts and motor mounts are completely different?

if your tight on budget, hit your local pick-a-part salvage yard, open the hood on almost any low mileage 1993-1995 S-10, get the long-block only from the S-10 for a few hundred ($200 from LKQ). then change the core plugs to brass, change the head gaskets to marine, then mount the marine accessories from your busted 1993

the long obsolete 3.8 liter in the OMC has the wrong crank, and is about 5 generations older than your 1993 V6, and mated to the long obsolete stringer drive, which would need you to redo your transom and stringers to mount.
