Hello. I'm new to the iBoats forums. I did quite a bit of searching on this topic, but wasn't successful in finding an answer. I own a 1993 Rinker Captiva 186 with the 4.3L V6 engine. The engine serial number stamped on the top of the carburetor cover is 0D844729. From what I've read so far, the in-line fuel filter is no longer available and I need to retrofit a spin on type? Anyone have any input on whether that is true or not? The filter that is currently on it appears to have a hard screw on fuel line on the fuel pump side, and a rubber hose attachment on the fuel tank side. If you happen to know the exact part number I need, I'd greatly appreciate it.

It is correct that Merc has discontinued the filter, but the filter can still be found in at many places by searching for "Mercruiser 35-805031T", or the Sierra part 18-7721 and sell for $30+

You could switch over to the spin on filter canister which is much better then the inline. Can get a kit and the filters are under $10

AllDodge, thanks for the very quick reply. Do you happen to know which kit would be best for what I have? And do you know the part number for that and where to get it? Thanks again.

The kit link in post 3 should work fine for the filter and adapter housing.

Appears you will need a 3/8 female fuel line to barbed fitting. Also need enough USCG approved type A1 fuel line to go from the fuel filter to the metal fuel line which left the old filter to the pump. Attach the barbed fitting, then replace the fuel line from the filter to the fitting. Make sure the line is kept away from anything moving and use clamps to secure in place if needed.

It may even be easier to remove the metal line and use all rubber fuel line from the pump to the filter. I am assuming your fuel line is 5/16 and a fitting like the one below should work and could be found at the local auto store. This way if its the wrong size you can swap. You could also take the fuel line to the store and find a fitting that will work.

Next you will need two 1/4 male pipe thread to 5/16 barbed fittings. These fittings connect on one inlet and one outlet of the filter housing. this type
