1993 maxum 5.7 mercruiser engine

hello everybody,well im new to this site.was googling sum help from the net and came acropss this site maybe someone could help me.well i just got a hold of a 1993 2200sc maxum...good shape but the engine needs work...so i stated to dissasemble it...my uncle builds stockcar motors so i wanna pull it out and take it to him but he lives 1.5 hours away so i dont have to take the whole boat...i have it pretty much stript do i need to remove the outdrive or can i pull the motor forward a bit .....any help would be appreciated .thanks for your time.....

You can pull the motor forward, but you will need to pull the drive anyway to check alignment. Besides its way easier to spend the 5 minutes it takes to pull the drive. Be sure you put the shifter in Forward anytime you pull the drive or even just the lower. You will need an alignment bar or take the boat by a shop and have them check and align before you re install the drive. If out of alignment it can "eat" a $250 coupler in an hour or less. Requiring you to re pull the engine to replace.

Also take care to keep the "stack" of washers, spacer and spring (rear mounts) in the correct order for re assembly. This is muy important.
