Hi I am new to this engine and I have a few questions. I checked the compression and it is around 118 to 120 in the cylinders. Plugs are good.

1. Sometimes it is very difficult to start and stalls at idle in gear, but not all the time. She runs great I'd say 80% of the time, starts right up no problem and she is on her way. Any thoughts Please!

2. I owned a 150hp Yamaha SW Series and it would charge the battery while running. Does this engine do the same, or do I need to charge it after every use?

3. I was reading the "sticky post" and noticed that it said not to go SELOC or Clymer is there a reason for this, if so I will order the one that is on EBAY.

Thanks
Paul

order the OEM Johnson manual, the others have major misprints, and instructions. http://www.outboardbooks.com/ also searayman13 on ebay has great deals, on OEM manuals.

your problem is either contaminated carbs, or human error.

read this. when tilting the motor it is best to disconnect the fuel line. if not the carbs are out of level and will flood, or overflow.

Huh? I use the tilt and trim and it will cause my engine to tilt. Ok I am now completly dumb founded.

I will order the one the OEM thanks a bunch.

I decarbed my engine today and it did run better, but she still stalls in Idle gear anywere between 1k and 2300rpm. I could get it to start back up with the choke back in, does that give anymore info as to where to look?

Thanks Capt keep em coming ;)
