1993 J15RELETB Johnson Outboard exhaust extension

Hello everybody, Iam new to the board and trying to do my first major repair on my 1993 15hp Johnson. I had some broken motor mounts which I was able to sucessfully pulled the powerhead out once I got everything unhooked. I pulled the lower unit before taking the powerhead out but when I pulled the powerhead out I found this rubber piece that appears to be part of the exhaust system/ exhaust extension. I cant figure out where this goes. I hope this isnt a dumb question any help would be appreciated.

I have also bought the SELOC Manuel for this motor but it doesnt really go into detail where the exhaust seal extension goes.

It goes on the water tube pointed side down above the 5" extension. Put some Vaseline on the tube makes it easier to slide on. It is there to keep the water tube from flopping around. It is only on the long shaft motors.
