1993 honda 15hp cracked block

My Honda kicker with less than a 100 hrs on it suddenly developed a cracked block for no apparent reason. <br />The $750 cost of the new block plus labor ruled-out a repair. <br />Honda refused to discuss or compromise on a solution. Has anyone had a similar problem?<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Mike

mm,<br /><br />That's an unusual failure.<br /><br />Typically, there only two reasons a block cracks.<br /><br />1. Overheat.<br /><br />2. It froze.

I have not seen a cracked block ,for any reason on this 15 or it's 9.9 little brother.There are alot of them in service up here and many are worked hard and maintained poorly.Any explaination for the crack by the tech that inspected it?I would really like to know.

¿Have you considered parting it out ?<br />...HS
