1993 Evinrude 70hp Powerhead Compatibility

I have a 1993 VE70TLETS with a bad cylinder. I'd like to swap powerheads with a known good used one. I have a lead on a 1992 model 70hp fully dressed powerhead, would that be compatible? I ask because when looking up REMAN powerheads, they seem to specify 1989-92 & 1993-98 as being compatible years. If that is indeed the case, what is the difference between 1992 & 1993?

there is nothing incompatible, but could be different as far as ignition and porting. i believe i have an oval port motor that started in 1993, but most folks say 1994. do you have the quickstart power pack or the small rectangle one with the small rectifier? again no issues with bolting up either ignition, carbs, gearcase etc. done it a bunch. not sure why they say 89-92 as the gearcase was all fine spline for the 56ci by 1989.
