HELP!!!!!! [/B] I have 4 kids and dont want to spend a arm and a leg to fix. My dad and I went out about 5 miles to get some walleyes. When we were almost there a high pitched constant alarm started to sound. I shut the boat down and checked the oil and it was fine and the impellar seemed to be working fine before i shut it off. We decided we should try and head in. I could run the motor at about half throttle and it was fine but when I gave it a bit more juice it would start jumping. Can somebody please help! Thank you, Chris

Re: 1993 Evinrude 70hp constant alarm

You may have revved engine too high and that set off the alarm and the engine may have sent you home in "safe mode". Find out what your maximum allowable rev's are for that motor and stay about 500 rpm below that. My alarm goes off at about 5000 to 5100. I do not go aove 4500 rpm anymore. Disconnecting your battery and then reconnecting it may clear the fault alarm you experienced. Hope this helps.

Eyeangler and Marlyone you both need to check you water pump impellers and thermostats. Constant alarm is an overheat condition unless you are running a V6 and then it can also be a fuel restriction which means you need to check your fuel pump.
