I have a 1992 pro v 115. The previous owner did a bypass on it. The motor runs great but will go into low power about once every couple hours of running. I read on another post that the reason this happened is because the system sees that there is no oil in the reservoir, so puts into low power for safety. I followed the recommended proceedeure to ground the white wire that leads to the reservoir’s sensor at the motor. I was told that after doing so, your tach should read full and the issue would go away. Any help is much appreciated.

What country are you in? There was no 1992 P115 offered by Yamaha USA here in the US. First model offered in the US was the P115TLRR. 1993 model year motor.

By low power I am presuming that you mean the motor is going into the RPM reduction mode.

Low oil in the main oil reservoir will cause this. As will over temperature. Or low battery voltage.

I would be careful following some procedure posted on the inner web. Wires have been known to let the smoke out when doing that.
