you might want to clarify what you question is about.
My C40TLRX specs are 7 ATDC and 25 BTDC so I would think yours would be also

Timing normally does not go out of adjustment.---What is the motor doing / not doing?

the person I purchase the outboard from mention they payed with the timing at the moment only issue I have after changing lots of parts is on full throttle after a few minute its as if one cylinder cuts out. I ensured that all linkage are correct carbs synchronized with linkages carb opened all the way etc. I ordered a new coil since I wanted all the basic parts to be new, new CDI, fuel filter, fuel pump, gas tank and hose, starter, thermostat, spark plugs, new shifter and cables etc. I wanted to verify that the timing setting are A ok to rule any future problem. again a big thank you all for sharing your knowledge. ( compression in both cylinders are 124-125

if you are trying to verify timing, just use a timing light to see where it is sparking at.
if not correct then chase how to adjust
