Good evening everyone,

I have read a lot of varying thoughts about oil injection over the past couple of months. Is the oil injection system reliable on this year range and model of Outboard? I’ve heard varying scenarios with nylon gears but from what I saw the injection system on this is all metal hard and bushings. Also, if I were to bypass the pump, could I just take out the T, run a solid fuel line from the quick connect b to the fuel pump, disconnect the float sensor from the oil reservoir, and then loop the oiler with one line back into itself instead of using a block off plate? Thank you for any and all advice. I look forward to hearing more about the reliability and longevity of this particular VRO.

I decided to go premix with a 2002 Merc. 90. I pulled the oil pump to access the drive gear-shaft, removed it and reinstalled the pump. I left the oil that was in the tank there ....could have disconnected the low oil alarm but didn't feel like it. That's it. Worked fine.....and put a notice at the gas fill port on the boat to add oil!
