Hey guys whats going on, so me and my big brother ended up buying a Center console today for 500 bucks with a nice mercury included. I have done some testing DVA on the for the trigger and stator while everything was still wired. We have a good idea about outboards we have been tinkering for years on other ones. Yet this one being a little bit of a challenge to us ANY HELP IS VERY WELL APPRECIATED, you know I am only 15 working on these things:confused:. If you have anything we can try or do to this motor just shoot a message or if you need more info just send a message I reply quick.

Also the serial # is 08117224

We don't have spark on all 6 cylinders, the packs look good I mean I find it hard to believe that both power packs on the outboard are bad.

Here is the readings we got:

Stator=
Blue wire: 28.9v
Blue/white: 30v
red: 28.1V
Red/white:28.5v

Pretty sure all these wires below are for the trigger.

Brown grounded to purple 1.8v
White grounded to brown 2.45v
purple grounded to white 1.6v

Yea man so any help guys would be great THANKS ALOT, I'm trying to be out on the ocean soon with my brother YA!!!

Something isn't adding up. The serial numbers for 1992 motors start with a "C" or "0C". Look on top of the motor for a round plug with a serial no stamped into it. Here you can find what your readings should be. http://www.cdielectronics.com/downloads/Mercury_DVA.pdf

Yea thanks for the info im familiar with the website I wrote down all the readings today when I was using my meter testing but I was looking for some one who really knows these black max mercurys to tell me if my readings are good or not or what I should do maybe for trouble shooting I mean it looks like the trigger is getting low voltage from what I have tested

The low speed windings of the stator are too low to provide enough energy for a low speed spark.

Before you condemn the stator repeat your tests, however first disconnect the stator leads from the ignition modules. If the low speed side of the stator then puts out in excess of 100 V retest spark with the black w.yellow kill wires disconnected from the modules.

Also remember the minimum cranking speed is 300 so be sure the battery cables are clean and tight, also that the starter brushes/commutator are good as a low cranking speed will throw off ALL tests results.

Yea we had the Battery charged up it was cranking real fast too with all the plugs out and yea I still haven't got to test it yet it's at my bros house next time I go over there I'm really going to spend some time and try a few things like the kill switch wire.. This guy has wires every where coming out of the console and no key switch. I mean what could cause no spark to all cylinders the stator? Trigger? I heard somthing about the rectifier too, and obviously the packs. The motor is a 6cylinder 1992 I know couple other year Black Maxs are the same thing... Thanks for the input.
