Gentlemen,
I have a 1992 Mercruiser where the water that is coming out of the gimbal housing is getting hot on one side (port side) at idle in the driveway with muffs on. I have replaced the impeller and since the other side is staying at a somewhat normal temp, I don't suspect the t-stat. Also, the water coming out of that side is "darker" than the other.
The lakes here don't freeeze (Florida) and I don't want to put it in the water and screw it up any further. Also, I am trying to get the boat back up and running after it sat for a few years while I went back to school. I have rebuilt the carb and replaced the fuel pump and the engine idles smooth and has good throttle response (in the driveway anyway). One cylinder (#7) reads a little low on compression on that side as well.
