im new to boat ownership so please be patient with me here lol. i purchased a 1992 sprint tournament pro with a 1992 mercury mariner mag III. upon purchaseing the boat i had a complete tune up done and the carbs rebuilt. on to my problem this boat starts incredibly easy imo. has a small spit while idleing is this normal in an older engine like this? the real issue i have is after running around the lake for awhile i stop to fish sometimes she is a pain in my rear to get started again. i have no real explanation as why. starts fine runs great small sputter during idle just a pain to get started later in the day....any ideas or suggestions i can try before i take her in to her looked at???

How are you starting it after it sits are you using the cold start procedure. The spit at idle could be normal make a video of it running and post it

What I have learned, When old ignition parts get hot" when running around the lake for awhile and stop to fish", then its had to start.

The ignition parts overheat and don't work very well to start the hot motor.

I would test the coils, and all the ignition electrical parts, an ignition electrical part is going out, and I have heard old hot coils do this .
