1992 Johnson Power Tilt not Working

[Red-Fin]

Remote Power tilt is not working on the console, but the button on the actual outboard works. Other than loose wires, anything else I can look for? Possible corrosion in the button?

How hard is it to replace the switch?

Not too hard. You will need to remove the control unit and disassemble it to get to the switch. But before you do that, check the switch using an Ohmmeter to check for continuity at the Plug on the TNT on the Motor. Remove connector at TNT and check for these readings. You should have continuity across these terminals, when the button is depressed in the appropriate mode. If not, replace it.<br />

Thanks. I don't have an Ohmmeter, so I guess I'll just buy a new switch and give it a try. Anything else I should know about removing and disassembling the control unit? Never done that before. Do I need a manual or is it pretty straight forward? Thanks again.
