I recently had the impellor changed and since then I see exhaust fumes coming out of the cowling. The fumes seem to rise from the aft end of the lower unit. The gas/oil mix is correct and the engine runs fine otherwise. Thank you. ewjili

Welcome ewjili.

Are you talking about the cowl for the engine compartment?
Or the mid section (driveshaft housing) of the motor between the powerhead and the lower unit?

If its the midsection and it is coming out the 2 holes on the back, that is normal.

If it is coming up into the engine compartment, that is not good.
There is a spacer plate and a gasket between the powerhead and the driveshaft housing, and also an exhaust tube and gasket.
I would look there to find the leak.

Thanks Roscoe for the quick and helpful reply. Unfortunately the exhaust is coming up around the plugs, carbs and flywheel so it must be that a a gasket has let go or was not replaced? Sounds like I need someone to work on it that knows what they are doing. Thanks again for your time and interest. ewjili

Are you still having the exhaust problems? I have a 120 Force and I think I am having the same problem. Was it expensive and hard to have fixed? How long did it take?

Thanks

Tom
