I'm getting a warning when I run my motor at idle. The warning sounds after I run the motor for awhile and drop it back to idle. If I increase the throttle, the warning stops and the motor runs fine. I have no idea what could be causing it. Anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like a low oil alarm. I pre-mix at 50:1 because that is what I was told to mix at by the previous owner. Should I mix more?

If you premix the gas, then the VRO system has been disconnected(vro is the il injection system where gas and oil are seperate)by any chance has someone re connected the aralm wires from the VRO pump.?the unit that injects the oil and gas has wiring plugs that should be disconnected when premixed fuel is used, the VRO pump is then used just as a fuel pump.If all the wiring is disconnected from the VRO pump, then you are likely hearing the heat horn, the same horn is used for heat and low oil.Has your impeller been dchanged lately,a low water volume delivery could cause a heat situation causing horn.Just because it pees, dont mean it is getting correct volume

I checked and the VRO wires were still connected. I disconnected them. I hope that was the problem. The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is why did the alarm only sound when I was in idle. If I increased the throttle, the alarm went off.

Re: 1992 Evinrude 70 HP

I had a problem a few years back with my High Temp alarm( steady buzzer) it would only happen at an idle . I had replace the water pump and seemed to put the stainless steel sloted plate in backwards, this restricted the water flow at an idle but pumped at wot. Also had a couple vaines broken on one and it did the same thing.

Check this out if you find out it not the low oil alarm.
