I know next to nothing about outboard mechanical stuff. I have a 1992 DT115 which has been run very infrequently. I recently had a dealer rebuild the carburetors and spark plugs, and tune it up generally. He checked out the compression and determined. It was fine and that he assessed it as back to health. I took it out and it throttled up nicely and sped along for a minute or two, then cut out to and lost power. It would restart a couple times then not at all. I limped back with the kicker and tried it out a couple hours later with the same result. I took it back to the dealer who said he took it out and could not replicate the problem. He guessed that my experience was due to bad fuel. So, a week later I tried it again and while it last a bit long before repeating the performance (10 minutes) it began doing the same thing again - losing power. It would still run, particularly in neutral and would rev up high in neutral. A little goosing in neutral would seemingly bring a little bit of short-lived powering up but it would quickly lose power and cut out.

In the course of my use of the motor during this process, I have believe I have supplanted all the gas supplies with new premium fuel. The oil in the reservoir is quite old.

After having invested about $1,400 in this latest rehab effort, I am reluctant to keep pouring money into what may indeed be a rathole. I am looking for advice regarding what may be legitimate leads in do follow up on without spending far more than the unit is worth in futile repairs.

Thanks in advance.
