hi all, been a while since i posted on here, have a 3.0 A1 G2 drive on a maxum 1900 sc, the steering is very "notchy" the wheel jumps about 2 inches when i am at slow speed without turning the drive, this makes handling very awkward when moving around the marina, but when on the move at 25 knts no problem, now the boat is 200 mile away in the marina so i cant check, but does it have just a rack and pinnion steering cable system or is it a power steering system they fitted, i had a quick look and could not find a pump apart from the trim and tilt unit, it feels like the wheel shaft is jumping, hard to describe but also as i have left the manual on the boat cant even look in that for advice at the moment.

Ayuh,... It's probably either rotary, or rack, 'n pinion cable steerin, without P/S,...

P/S is Rare on the 3.0l.....

It sounds like ya need a new helm, 'n cable,...

If it feels like it's pulsing and the pulses favour one side then you could be trimmed too far.
It comes from the rake angle of the prop blade being different from one side of the prop to the other.
If this is the case you will feel a bit of a 'thumping' through the wheel being transmitted from the prop.
