Have 1992 60hp Mariner which has been sitting for a year - I winterize it every year and chage the impeller every couple years tho I seldom use it. Noticed that the oil reservoir was empty so filled it and used 40/1 oil mix for gas which I thought you were supposed to do the first tank every year. Problem is, the steady beep stays on with the engine running which I thought was the oil warning alarm. (or the engine overheating alarm ? there IS a good flow of water out the back and the alarm comes on with the engine running cold) Side note - like 10 years ago I dropped the plastic sealing disk from the inside of the oil bottle into the reservoir (oops) but the mechanic assured me that this would not block anything. And engine ran fine for 10 years. Could this have finally moved into place to block the oil intake from the reservoir ? Any ideas on what the steady beep is ? I'm leary of running the engine for 20 minutes to see if the beep goes away ... thanks
