hey Guys
I have just picked up a new boat which has a 1992 50HP Johnson with VRO
What i want to know is does the VRO system need to be connected or can i just run premixed fuel and disconnect the VRO?
The guy i got it from said he was running pre mix and not using the VRO tank but there is oil in it and it is still connected up so i am not to sure what to do.
I have not been priming up the VRO tank before use and just using the mixed fuel
will this cause any issues and will it still suck up excess oil from the VRO tank ? i am guessing there was oil in that tank to avoid the alarm going off.
if anyone can clear this whole VRO system thing up so i understand it better i would really appreciate it.
I have a 55HP Johnson onmy other boat which is pretty much the same motor just a 95 model and it has no VRO on it this is pretty much how i want to have this one running, i dont really trust the VRO...
Thanks

there has been numerous threads on how to disconnect the VRO, however, it is a good system, far better to get it working/updated and leave it on.

Check the top secret file at the begining of this forum. If it was mine I'd disconnect it.

Thanks Guys,
It does work i just don't trust it while the convenience of just filling with normal fuel and going sounds great i would rather spend that extra few mins mixing the fuel to have that piece of mind that they motor will not run without oil.
Ill take a closer look at the top secret file.
Cheers
