This is my first boat and I need your opinion. Boat and OB seem to be in great shape, Started right up, pumped water well and it has been on a lift since 1999 probably since new. Guy sounds like he took good care boat and OB. Went for test run and she ran great as I advanced throttle little by little. At WOT the speed was 25mph and the engine seemed to run fine. Did not run WOT for any length of time and the tach was not working, guy said hasn't worked in awhile, is this a bad thing? he stated he never ran WOT and Im pretty sure he is telling the truth. Your thoughts appreciated as well as info on tri-toons in general. (already bought boat)

The tachometer counts engine revolutions. It is not necessary for proper operation of the engine. It is essential if you get into a situation where you come here for advice on engine problems, prop selection, etc. Not knowing what your engine is doing prevents us from helping you. Tachs are cheap but just check the wiring to it. Something may just have wiggled loose.

something not connected, or the recitifer, is blown, and the engine not charging the battery. if the seller doesn't know the last time the impeller was changed change it. if over 2 years change it.
