I have a 1992 Arriva 20' with a 200 hp mercury. It will run fine sometimes but most of the time after I take off it will bog down pretty bad. Sometimes it does it from take off. The fuel system seems good, I have gone through all the lines and the carbs have been rebuilt. I think I have narrowed it down to ignition. Does this sound right and if so how do I check it?? Please help

If you don't find anything wrong with the ignition system and you want to reconsider the fuel system as the possible problem, there are some troubleshooting tests you can do to confirm (or eliminate) some common fuel related causes of engine bog, such as a failing fuel pump, a restriction in the fuel line upstream of the fuel pump, or a vacuum leak in the fuel line. All you need is a vacuum gauge, a piece of clear hose, and a t-connector to do the troubleshooting. The below linked Mercury Service Advisory (#2001-17) provides pretty good guidance.

Good luck

I checked my resistance on my coils all but 1 were good. one is a bit funky and it seems the wire is bad. The wire seems to be part of the coil, is this true or should I be able to just get new wires?
