1992 15hp Yamaha lower end compatiblity

I have a 1992 Yamaha 15 hp that needs a replacement lower end. It’s a 2 stroke motor. I found a 1995 4 stroke lower end
Which is a long shaft like mine. They look the same and I’m wondering if the 4 stroke one will fit the 2 stroke motor. I’m sure there is a gear ratio difference but that could be overcome by changing the prop. Has anyone ever done this kind of swap?

FT9.9TLD is the model number. Not sure of the year of the 4 stroke but that’s what he said. I know mine is a 1992 2 stroke.
