Hello All,

It has been years since I have owned a boat (previously owned a Wellcraft NOVA and Century 19ft). I am looking seriously to purchase a 1991 Wellcraft Eclipse with 244 hours/ 350 Mag with Alpha-One Merc. I have already taken the boat out once and it performed well, started right up..with no problems. The boat is single owner and he is only selling it due to an upgrade to a 26-ft Rinker for more overnight trips. This boat meets all of my needs, it has always been covered when docked and stored inside and properly winterized. I can purchase the boat for $5,500.00.

Anything that I should be looking for?Wellcraft-1991.jpg

Many thanks....KenC

Re: 1991 Wellcraft 216 Eclipse

I've owned a '95 Wellcraft Eclipse 210. Same style. I really enjoyed that boat, very functional, great style, built well. I would buy another for sure. Resale was excellent, it sold in 3 hrs. Yes it was in perfect shape, but everyone know the Wellcraft Eclipse name and were searching for them.

It is all about condition and rot.... make sure there is none... Many posts on engine and outdrive checks you can do.

And a 350 mag is a nice motor for that boat -- it will be very fast if you want fast. 244 hrs is super low.
$5500 is a nice price. $5000 even better.
Check into the trailer and its road-worthiness. Tires, bearings, brakes... Those add up!

If you get the boat, only thing that always was a challenge for me in that style boat was the planing speed/RPMs. My Eclipse had a lot of bow rise at slow speed (even when trimming). My boat would plane at 3000RPM which was about 20-22MPH. FOR ME, that was a little too fast for my water ways. I was planning to add trim tabs to plane at a slower speed, like 15MPH.
