My boat has a max rec HP rating of 24KW. Can I or would it be adviseable to run a 35HP Honda 4 Stroke Tiller on this boat?

Well, 35HP is about 26KW, or about 8% over the rating. A 30HP would be about 22.4KW, safely under the rating and close enough that you would have to take careful measurements to tell any difference in performance.

If you already have the Honda 35 I doubt if using it would present any problem unless you are up against local laws regarding "overpowering" and nit-picky enforcers of said laws. Otherwise go for 30 or less HP.

I have a 1988 Springbok 14.5' Resorter that is rated for 21 KW or 28 hp. I run a 1988 Johnson 30 hp tiller on it and it handles fine. Since your boat is 2' longer I would assume you could get by with a 35hp. That is a very sturdy boat. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I think the biggest issue will probably be the weight of the motor since its a four stroke.
