I would like to know if I need to remove the outdrive to pull the motor to rebuild it and how difficult is it to do? I have shop manual for this and it says if you have six inches in front of the engine you don't need to remove the stern drive-any tips would be aprecieted thanks!!!!!!!!!

BNL If I were pulling this motor I would pull the lower. It is six nuts 3 on each side of the housing. I beleive those are 5/8th Then pull one of the 9/16th nuts that are on the trim cylinders knock that rod that goes from one trim cylinder to the other out and your unit is ready to pull. It would be alot easier to do it this way then to try to line up the splines later at the end.
Normally you would pull this off when the unit is in forward but if your rebuilding the motor your unit will more than likely be knocked out of forward before getting it back up there. So remember when reinstalling unit to put the shifter in forward and the unit in forward.

GOOD LUCK!
Nick
