After 8 year absence have returned to boating. Just bought a like new 1991 Ranger with 175 Johnson. Now local boat dealer has told me it is junk it will break just a question of when. It runs well and compression checked out. Have I screwed up or what is the issue here.

If you screwed up at all, Tex, it was by paying attention to the local boat dealer.

I wouldn't recommend doing business with him.

If anything that will eventually break is junk, then that's what all of us have.

You don't stay in bed because you know that you will die. . ."it's just a question of when". . .do you?

Take care of her and enjoy. :)

May the dealer be three days in hades before Jesus knows he is dead.

i agree with JB. dont do business with that dealer because that info is sure as hell inaccurate. Everything breaks at some point and time, its just a matter of when. If that boat has been well maintained and taken care of, it should give you many more years of fun.

I worked for a dealer and we tore apart a '79 150 Evinrude that had locked up. We tore her apart and found it had spun a main bearing scoring the crank. With a little scotch brite, he clean the crank up and put it back together. I dreaded the day that the motor would go out to a new customer. The fall came and I was back in college before it was sold WHEW
