I just purchased a 1991 Glastron 1900 with a 5.0 Merc and a Alpha 1 first gen, $300 for the whole package including the orginal trailer. Floors solid everywhere and the interior is all nice except for one seem pulling apart. Well the bad news is that the block is cracked. I've pulled car motors before so I figured it wouldnt be that bad to replace the motor in the boat. I've been looking at long blocks on ebay and i've found them from 1100 to 2900 for remans. Anybody had any sugestions for a place to get a block from also though about finding a nice used complete motor just to drop in, i'm kinda up in the air right now but I want to go the least expensive route while still doing it right. I'm also wondering if I could switch to a 5.7 or if the 5.0 and 5.7 have different gear ratios in the outdrive? I live in Southeastern Wisconsin so if anybody knows of any good places to get motors please let me know.
