1991 force 9.9 ignition coil

One of my ignition coils went bad on my 91 9.9 force and I can not find one anywhere!!!! It is the electrical ignition system, (no points or condensers) the ignition coil is light blue with a black and grey wire. It is made by prestolite and it is stamped with a 4592 on the bottom. I checked on this site and they offer a new type ignition system that replaces mine since it is obsolete. Do I have to change flywheels? Or anything else if I buy that? I've checked all around the country at boat junkyards and online just about everywhere. They all say "good luck"

That almost looks like it but my wires are gray and black. I was told not to use the one with the blue and brown wires. Unfortunately I don't have the s/n because it wore off the sticker on the leg. The motor was my uncles and he bought it in 1991.

I have looked at the diagrams for the motor and cab tell you the parts match up with this diagram

See if you can see a disc like this on the powehead which will have the s/n.

No welch plug there. Is there any other places they would stamp the s/n on the motor anywhere?

I have an 88 Gamefisher (same as Force) 7.5HP (detuned 15HP) and had the same problem, 1 coil died. The "BIM" coils are NLA so you can't buy them from Mercury anymore, Mercury purchased Force and sells their parts.

2 solutions;

1- Contact Standard Magneto and see if they have a replacement BIM coil for your outboard.
2- Buy a CDI ignition upgrade kit and replace the entire ignition system. The kit is available right here at Iboats for $150-200, kind of pricey, but,,, what you going to do...

So I ordered an ignition coil online. Got it today and put it in. Well now I have no spark what so ever on either plug?. But when I put the old one back in I have spark in the good coil and a weak spark in the old coil. Any suggestions? I am lost now, not knowing what to do next.
