Hard to get a workshop manual in NZ, a few weeks delivery from amazon.com.Anyone got internal wiring diagram to help me solve the not charging the battery. I think there is an alternator of some sort in the flywheel.is this correct?
I noticed the 20amp fuse was blown,I replaced this but no change. Does any one know what the 20amp fuse is for?

Re: 1991 Force 70 not charging battery

HI, I'm a newbie, dont know a thing i will write about ,but i got a book, seloc force 84-99 o/b. got it here at iboats.
here goes, lead paragraph says, the the charging system and the spark are both provided by the magnets on the flywheel, if you got spark they are good, than it tell of the stator windings that the magnets revolve around, it describes the wheatstone bridge(diode) pack to convert ac to dc to charge the battery. the stator coil is a ring a bout the size of the flywheel under it.
the article goes on to remind you to check fuse, and point out that the battery must be good, yet less than 12.5 volts to allow the regulator to send current to it. the regulator should be close to the starter motor.
you should be able to follow any automotive charging system test procedure to check the components. good luck, try iboats for the book, a good 32us buy.

your going to look for a yellow wire/gray wire from the regulator, your motor has a regulator, diode unit on the stator side and red lead out to the starter selenoid, again good luck.
