1991 Force 50hp mod. 508F91C

I have a Force 50hp motor which I bought new 13 years ago. It's having an ignition problem. The motor runs at about half power, I was told that it was the coil. $100.00 later, that wasn't the problem. I swapped them and the same result happened. I believe that it could be the CD ignition but I want to test it. Is there a reliable test for that? Can you also test the trigger? Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you should be able to get your hands on a repair manual (Clymer, Seloc), the necessary tests are described in them. You can buy the manuals on the internet.
