I have a 1991 evinrude 150 XP. I bought the boat and motor new. In 2007, I had problems with the VRO and engine locked up and marine shop did a certified rebuilt. Afterwards, I did not trust the VRO pump and had it disconnected. For the last 6 months, I have had problems getting the boat to plane on take off. When the engine is cool, it will plane; however, once I run it some, it will not plane. I have changed power packs, all coils, spark plugs, changed electric fuel pumps and I am still having problems. When it does plane, it runs well. Suggestions?

Weak ignition components tend to work when they are cool/cold. Once these components heat up to normal operating temps, they are more likely to fail. Sound as if that is what is going on with yours. Does not sound like you've looked at the stator or timer base yet. May be time to check their output when the engine is fully warmed up.
