1991 Chaparral 250SL. What engine is this?

Manifolds say Volvo, but the rest of the engine looks a bit different than my 97 Volvo 4.3.

Owner says recently rebuilt and bored over, but cannot find any numbers on the block anywhere.

Can anyone verify if this is volvo, merc, or what, and if 4.3 or what size?

It is Volvo by the looks of the exhaust Y and manifolds, and yes, it's a 4.3L. The only V6 used in that era.
Probably the 430A or 430B. The A has a mechanical fuel pump, the B has an electric fuel pump.

My buddy cannot find the serial numbers or any casting numbers. That is why I am asking for him.

He knows I have a newer 4.3 Volvo (1997) and is asking me, shooting me these pictures from his shop where he is working on it.

Do they still use the GMC 4.3 V6 distributor cap, rotor, plugs, etc like mine does?

No, different ignition system. This one has a Prestolite BID system, (If OEM, impossible to tell from pictures) The plugs would also be AC MR43T.

Probably because this one used the same manual from 88 to 93, where the 97 is for a single year, and goes by model and serial number, not year.

Well, either way, manual shows spark plugs etc. My buddy is amped, and cant wait to get home to verify that it goes with his boat.

I have looked it over and it does in fact seem to match his setup
