Hey everyone,
I have a 1991 60hp Johnson with a VRO2 pump (VJ60TLEIB) that I think needs replacement. Last year we had the motor rebuilt and when we did the mechanic said the reason for our failure was the VRO2 pump was not working. Anyhow when he rebuilt the motor he disabled the oil part of the pump just like what is described on the Engine FAQ. Well this weekend we are having troubles with the boat staying running. It will keep running if you manually pump the fuel with the primer bulb, but will die if you do not. So my assumption (and what people have told me) is that the fuel pump is dead. First question, is this assumption valid? If it is, can I convert it using the Engine FAQ's directions using this pump http://www.iboats.com/Fuel-Pump-Sierra/dm/view_id.174141 ?? I did not notice any holes or a plug on the side of the motor, but I was not looking and I wont see the boat again until this weekend. I would like to have the parts on hand when I get there this weekend, does anyone know if this 60hp motor have the holes and plug to attach the Sierra 18-7352?? Will this pump work for the 60hp as I see this pump is only rated for up to the 55hp?
Thanks so much in advance,
Jeff
