Hi all- just put a new battery into it and there is absolutely no power to the motor starter. I can get my bilge and running lights to work but there is absolutely nothing when I turn the key. I cannot get the trim to work either. Is there a fuse I am missing in the wiring or is there a reset switch on the motor itself? This has me stumped. It started fine last year the last time I took it out and have never had any problems before. If the kill switch was activated then it would turn over but not fire. Any ideas?

Begin testing with a volt meter from your starter motor and working backward toward the battery until you find the voltage disruption............Don

Yup. Prolly boat wiring issue, unlikely a motor wiring issue.

Re: 1990 Nissan 90 HP motor not running

Ok found the fuse in the motor and it was blown. I found a 20 Amp fuse that looks like it except it is not green like the one that was in there. Could not find a match at an auto parts store but was told this fuse may be a slow blow. The style they gave me is a little different with a thinner strand in it. And it was a hair longer. They assured me this would work. I am not so sure. Is there a specific marine fuse that should go in that slot? Also the trim was not working either but fixed that by turning the slot back to manual and then to power and it reset the trim and now that works fine. So I think all good for now except a little worried about that fuse thing.

I have the exact same problem. Where on the motor did you find the 20 amp fuse. Thanks for your help in advance. - Joe

This is an old post; you should probably start a new one.

What is your precise model?

The fuse will be in-line feeding the start switch from the battery cable at the solenoid.
