One of the hose end fitting is leaking and the hose needs replacement.....yes Rabidfish, its falling apart

How do I remove the hoses that run from the trim motor to the bottom of the y-pipe?

Do I have to pull the engine to reach the bottom end fittings or they can be accessed by removing the the fitting at the bottom of the transom assembly from the outside?

Thanks.

just remove the plate where all 4 hoses connect and pull downward to gain access to the main lines

On the bottom of the Gimbal housing. (Outside the boat) Remove it(it will drop down to expose the hose fittings.)

Keep after it! You'll be better off for knowing a little something about your boat.

Re: 1990 Merc Alpha 1 Trim hose removal

I just did mine last weekend, a local shop quoted me 360 to 480 in labor to do this. it took me about four hours in labor and about 120 dollars in hoses. But Bt Doctor and Rabidfish are exactly right. Just drop the anode and the manifold and the hoses are connected to the top of the manifold. The hardest part of the job is getting them started in the manifold. Work slowly and start the hose toward the bough first.
Good luck

Right, if at all possible, start the threads by hand. You want to take great pains to not cross-thread anything here...
