I have a 1989 Mercury V-135 (V-6) SeaRay Edition that I'm assuming is the same motor as yours. When I first got it, it did not pee at all. Then I changed the impeller and it pee'd a very light dribble. I changed the thermostats and still nothing. Then I changed all the hoses and all was good! Turned out the hose that connected to the pee hole was clogged. Once the hose was off, I blew into one end and all sorts of nasty crap came out. It seemed a spider made a home of the hose and a bunch of organic dead insect matter was clogging the hose. Now it pees great at idle, and very strong when acceleration is applied. However, it does take 5-10 secs before water starts to come out after the motor is turned on. So if you're not getting any water at idle, I'd say do what I did. Change the impeller, thermostats, hoses. Better to be safe then blow your powerhead from overheating! ; )
