New to site. Looking at this Lowe as a first boat, can anyone tell me about it? has a '90 50 hp Evinrude, package is in very good condition. front pedestal seat seems a little far back on the casting deck, anyone else think so? It is a riveted hull.

Thanks, God bless, Mike.

Re: 1990 Lowe 1600V

Welcome to the Forum Mike!

I have a 93 1600V. These are quality built boats. Better yet, their customer support is excellent. They helped me out of a jam!!

Check the hull and transom out for signs of wear and tear. Yes it is a riveted hull. No problem with that though when done right. The 50 would make a great combo. Mine has a 40 Rude and runs 27 mph. Post some pics. Good Luck!

Thanks bralex,
I am waiting to hear about financing, should know within the week. Boat looks to be in awesome shape, paint, decals, and even carpet look like new. Will look over transom and hull before I close the deal, I have a whole checklist of things to look over, compression, bearings, tires, electrical, etc. Looks to be a good first boat.

Couldn't help but reply...purchased a 1988 Lowe Condor back in 88 (18.5 x 83" beam). It was called a limited edition and came with a 88 90 hp evinrude. Have kept it inside and will this year repower my power source with a 08 90 hp etech. The boat is called "a modified V" and is very stable but rough riding in white caps. Two fisherman can fish the corners of the boat with no problems with "buoyancy". Ribs on the boat (underside) provide some additional strength to the boat. Can't think of any reason for me to get rig of it.

Heres a picture we took this winter putting in brush for crappies at a nearby lake:

Nice boat Drift, I was looking at a similar Starcraft in 17ft w/a Merc 60hp. but was refused financing, however.......
I bought the Lowe! Well, the bank has guarantied the loan. My fishing partner and I are going to see it in person Saturday to see if it is what it seems. The dealers site had 10 photos, the boat, motor, and trailer are very clean, right down to the carpet. Has 2 Garmin fishfinders, a 55lb. Minn kota w/auto pilot, onboard charger, dual batteries, livewells, and down riggers (something I have never used but will try for the sake of it, we have lakers in my area, some muskie and big pike). And a stereo/cassette. (why, I don't know. What do fish like to listen to anyway?)
It's basically loaded. Every thing I have heard from three different boards and other owners really like their boats. I am encouraged and glad to have a place to vent my joy, I just got the bank commitment yesterday, so I am still bouncing off the walls!!!

Have fun with your new toy. They are a great boat, I have a 1982 16 foot Lowe Bass Catcher Pro which had a rough life before I got it several years ago. I would not trade this boat for anything. It is tough, handle great with a mariner 50 and runs about 35 mph. Ordering a new CMC power trim unit for it this year which will finish the rebuild except for a new paint job. Love my Lowe.
