1990 Johnson Engine 60 HP Hesitates/Sputters

When we run our engine full throttle it runs okay for afew minutes but then begins to hesitate/sputter. If we lower the speed and just troll, it stops. If we turn the engine off for a few minutes, and then start it back up, it will be okay for a while then start to sputter.

The water pump, coil pack, spark plugs and gas has been changed. The mechanic says the carberautor (sp?) has is okay.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!!!!!!

What happens if you squeeze the primer bulb while it is misbehaving? Sounds to me like fuel starvation that may be related to tank ventilation or air leaking in a hose somewhere.

Another possibility is temperature related, try a test run with the Tstat out.

Good luck.
JB

J.B.

We tried priming bubble, it was really hard but it didn't make any difference.

What do you mean when you say leave Tstat out?

Thanks.
