When I reverse hard the motor raises on it's own like it is climbing through the water, other wise the Tilt/trim function works as designed. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan

Could be just air in the system. Raise the motor to the full up position and latch it. Remove the fill plug, probably need an impact screwdriver, and top up the fluid until it reaches the bottom of the fill hole and replace the plug. Cycle the tilt/trim a few times and go test it. Check that the manual bypass screw is fully tight also.

You could also have some bad valves in the tilt cylinder.

Thanks guys I will start with checking for air and topping off the fluid. How do I know if I have bad valves?

You'll need a Factory OEM service manual . All the procedures are in there.
