Boat was running great all day and then everything died just after getting up on plane. There is no electrical to anything on the instrument panel or the fuse panel under the dash. The battery test good. Trim motor works but may just be because it was an aftermarket switch. I've been trying to trace it from the battery but don't have a diagram and getting lost in the mess of wires. Any suggestions on where to start??? I expect it will be something simple when I nail it down and hate to take it to the mechanic for something I can fix if I just find it.

Howdy,

Welcome aboard!

Generally speaking, Boat electrical problems are related to ground and power connections that have become corroded. loss of a ground connection can be the same as the loss of the "plus" connection.

The trim system is usually wired separate from the main system so it's no surprise that it still works.......

You REALLY need to get your hands on an OMC OEM service manual. It will have complete schematic diagrams and color codes etc....

There's also a main power fuse (50A or so) that could have opened.

Found the 50 amp fuse blown, Thanks! Now I'm just wondering if there is some other problem (grounding) that caused the fuse to blow or just old.

Good for you!

Finding an intermittent problem is always hard. It could be any thing (shorting) up to and including too many accessories running at the same time.
