1990 Evindude VRO 40hp keeps stalling in water

Good Morning
My 1990 evinrude won't stay running??? I had the carbs rebuilt this spring the boat ran fine. The boat sat for 2 weeks I took it out it wouldn't Idle right keep stalling got it running came back in as soon as I took it out of gear it stalled. no alarms. I check for water in the tank found none pulled the plugs replaced them, put the muffs on started right up Idle fine put in in gear no problem keep running????.Took out again same problem won't Idle. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks Art

Does it perform OK if you get it above idle? Its possible you have a dead cylinder. Check for spark, compression and see if it helps when you firm up the primer ball.

Hi schematic Yes it did once above Idle We did check the spark no problem there.We didn't do a compression test. thanks Art

If compression and spark OK, you may want to revisit the carbs and recheck fuel quality.
Be sure your manual primer lever is properly set.
