Hello Everyone,
New to the boating scene and to this site. I appreciate any help that anyone can provide. I purchased a prewoned champion and I am trying to make it all right again. It was stripped so, I have a few things to add before I get it wet. First and foremost I am looking for pictures (they tell a thousand words) of the inside of the rear hatch. The gas tank is out and there are no batteries but there are wires. I want to make sure I have the layout correct after I check all of the connections and bilge pumps while I can see everything. If anyone knows where I can get diagrams that would be wonderful too.. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to iboats.

Stripped? To what extent? You basically have a blank slate considering it is 21 years old. Electrical is easy and the "basic" electrical wiring diagrams are located in the electrical section here http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23

All other wiring is usually based on what motor you have. Each is a bit different depending on the power.

Check google for photos. Maybe someone has a similar boat here. Post a picture of what you have and people will have an easier time helping you.

Re: 1990 Champion 20' bass boat

I have an 88 15ft champion, most of the wiring was a mess. What i have done is slowly started to replace all the wiring with new. I know these is a major task to undertake but to me it is well worth it in the end. Having the piece of mind of knowing that there is no monkey wiring under there.

BTW what motor is on there?

Re: 1990 Champion 20' bass boat

Stripped to the extent that I have the boat a nice tandem trailer and the all of the parts for the Motor (A 1990 Evinrude 150XP) It has the steering console, the controls and cables and the fuel tank (out of the boat) It has three pumps in the bilge area but not much of anything else. No battery trays etc... The wiring is there but I suspect that some of the switches may be bad. The trolling motor wiring is also there but no trolling motor at all.The block of the motor needed a new sleeve put in it and was sent to a machine shop by the previous owner. (I have the block. It had two cracks in it (one near the water jacket and one in the bottom of one of the cylinders. (they have been welded but the cylinder (piston) holes are not punched correctly (they are more oval then round and it shows on the piston skirts as irregular wear. (I dont expect to be able to use the block so I purchased a tired motor for 200.00 and am planning on using the block in it. I appreciate any help that anyone can provide. I will be happy to put a picture or two up but I am not sure how to do it since I am new to the site.

I have a 1990 Evinrude 150 XP. Currently it is in pieces. I am thinking I will have it rebuilt this year. The block has some problems so, I purchased a tired complete powerhead and I am hoping to use the block in it.

Re: 1990 Champion 20' bass boat

I have the basic Hull, Trailer and a 1990 Evinrude XP 150. The motor is disassembled. The boat has the console, cables and controls and the gauges are all still there along with all of the wiring. There are no batteries or trolling motor. The gas tank is out of the boat so now I am just trying to make sure they all are working before I reinstall the gas tank and reconnect everything. I did hook a battery up to some of the wiring in the rear and I did have power to the navigation lights and some of the courtesy lights on the boat. I did not see any dash lights.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Bryan, do you have a switch that's labeled "Power" on your console? If so, do you know what it's for? I appreciate any help
