I just bought this boat. It has a mercruiser Alpha one 3.0L engine, but it has been idle for the last 5 years, the owner managed to treat the fuel to get it to start every time, however it runs a little rough. It has a brand new battery, and oil is clean and fresh. What tuneup should I do before getting it into water?
I'm thinking that I should change the spark plugs and do some carburetor cleaning (if it has one) and use Seafoam or some other fuel lines cleaner.
Im not sure how invasive carburetor cleaning and how far should i go in taking it apart and if there anything else I should do?

That motor may have points. If so, clean and gap them. Check static timing as well. I would do that first, before cleaning the carb...

If the gas is five years old, get the tank drained and start with fresh gas.
