1990 85hp suzuki 4800 rpms wot

I purchased my 1990 85 hp suzuki this spring it would turn about 5400 rpms the max rpms have dropped to about 4800 and it is cutting out at wot when it is trimmed up. i have had the carb kits put in and the compression is fine i was told it could be the rev limiter i would appreciate any help on this

If you don't have a shop manual, get one and follow it's trouble shooting info 1st.<br /><br />I would verify all cylinders are firing by removing plug wires one at a time w/ motor idling. RPM drop means it's running on that one. No drop means dead hole. Etc, etc. etc.<br /><br />There's lots of possibilities until you start eliminating some. Let us know your results.

I doubt its the rev limited kicking in. If it was it would hold the motor at around 2500rpm max (thats from memory as I cant locate that section in my manual !) in anycase it would be way less than 4800rpm.<br /><br />Go with WildeOne's suggestion and get a manual in the first instance.<br /><br />Cheers<br />Mike

If you just recently had the carbs done. Take it back and tell them it didn't "fix it".
