Blue/white smoke follows the back of the boat and turns the transome black after a day of trolling. The fuel/oil mix is correct and theres no sign of any water in the plugs. It starts fine, idles fine and has plenty of power. I feel kind of like the Peanuts character "Pigpen" with a cloud following me. If my gas was contaminated with water wouldn't it run badly?

Tyee,

Bluish smoke is normal. Two stroke engines, particularly larger ones, are very inefficient at idle speeds. There is a great deal of unburned atomized fuel being dumped overboard.

While all this idling will not kill your engine you need to do some things to maintain it diiferently than an engine that works a little harder. I would decarb. the engine frequently. You can buy decarb. spray from your local dealer. Just follow the directions on the can.

If it were mine, I would be looking for a "kicker".
