1990 4.3L Engine hard to start

I have 1990 4.3L OMC with cobra outdrive. When I take it out and run it for 30 min or so it wont crank back up unless it sets for about 20 min. It will turnover but real slow. Then after 20 min it will ack like normal. Any Ideas, thanks

Check all connection at the battery and at the starter that they are tight and clean. Also check the ground between the battery and block.

Has the starter ever been under water?

thanks I will check the connections, the starter has not been under water, I just put it on a couple months ago. Thanks

Definitely battery related. Check the battery to see what its putting out. Also check the belt to make sure its adjusted correctly. Lastly, check the alternator. If all those check out good then you have to look for a bad connection. My bet is on one of the first three.
