What is the purpose of the bleed/balance hoses? If they are removed and capped off, will it create problems? I have looked at 17 pages of this forum, and have not seen this question answered. Does anyone know?????

It will cause a rich condtion at idle if they are removed. They help remove puddled fuel and brings it to locations that will allow it to be taken back up in the mixture.

It makes them run worse. Mine ran better when hooked all up correctly. It is already a pain trying to get all six carbs working smoothly.

Thank you fellas. I have an ongoing poor running condition with my beast, and was starting to look to other, less traveled problems that may be escaping myself and my Mercury dealer. This is a rather simple, yet older and fairly rare (nowadays) motor and have alot of problems with parts and correct diagnosis. I will leave them be, as they are connected and routed properly.
