1990 15 hp Mariner electric start

hello, i have a 1990 15 hp mariner, id like to set up a battery to electric start it, but i dont know how. it has the red and black cables coming from the starter, but i dont know where to go from there! any comments/help appreciated!

Are the cables direct from the starter or from the starter solenoid if there is a solenoid all you should have to do is hook up a battery

so i just hook the cables up to the battery and it will start? or is there a button or anything?

Should be a start button on the tiller handle

there is no button on there

Then open the bonnet and see where the 2 cables go
